A symbiosome containing any of various structurally modified bacteria, such as those occurring on the root nodules of leguminous plants. A double-enveloped cell compartment, composed of an endosymbiont with its plasmalemma (as inner envelope) and a non-endosymbiotic outer envelope (the perisymbiontic membrane). A membrane-bounded vesicle found in the cytoplasm of the cell. A membrane-bounded intracellular vesicle formed by invagination of the plasma membrane around an extracellular substance.
