An immune response based on directed amplification of specific receptors for antigen produced through a somatic diversification process, and allowing for enhanced response to subsequent exposures to the same antigen (immunological memory). The process whereby a relatively unspecialized T cell acquires the specialized features of a Th1 cell. Recombined receptors for antigen encoded by immunoglobulin superfamily domains include T cell receptors and immunoglobulins (antibodies). An example of this is the adaptive immune response found in Mus musculus. Any process that activates or increases the frequency, rate, or extent of a T-helper 1 type immune response. Any process that stops, prevents, or reduces the frequency, rate, or extent of a T-helper 1 type immune response. Any process that modulates the frequency, rate, or extent of a T-helper 1 type immune response. An immune response which is associated with resistance to intracellular bacteria, fungi, and protozoa, and pathological conditions such as arthritis, and which is typically orchestrated by the production of particular cytokines by T-helper 1 cells, most notably interferon-gamma, IL-2, and lymphotoxin.
