The directed movement of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide into, out of, within or between cells by means of some external agent such as a transporter or pore; transport may be of either the oxidized form, NAD, or the reduced form, NADH. The process whereby nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is transported from one side of a membrane to the other; transport may be of either the oxidized form, NAD, or the reduced form, NADH. Any process that is carried out at the cellular level, but not necessarily restricted to a single cell.
