Any constituent part of cytosol, that part of the cytoplasm that does not contain membranous or particulate subcellular components. A proteasome complex found in the cytosol of a cell. Any macromolecular complex composed of two or more polypeptide subunits, which may or may not be identical. Protein complexes may have other associated non-protein prosthetic groups, such as nucleotides, metal ions or other small molecules. Any constituent part of the cytoplasm, all of the contents of a cell excluding the plasma membrane and nucleus, but including other subcellular structures. A large multisubunit complex which catalyzes protein degradation. This complex consists of the barrel shaped proteasome core complex and one or two associated proteins or complexes that act in regulating entry into or exit from the core. A multisubunit complex located in the cytosol of a cell, which caps one or both ends of the proteasome core complex. This complex recognizes, unfolds ubiquitinated proteins and translocates them to the proteasome core complex. The core complex of a proteasome located in the cytosol of a cell. Any constituent part of the living contents of a cell; the matter contained within (but not including) the plasma membrane, usually taken to exclude large vacuoles and masses of secretory or ingested material. In eukaryotes it includes the nucleus and cytoplasm. A multisubunit proteasome complex that localizes in the cytoplasm as dot-like structures when cells are in a quiescent state. The part of the cytoplasm that does not contain organelles but which does contain other particulate matter, such as protein complexes.
