The transfer of a phospholipid from its site of synthesis to the plasma membrane. The directed movement of phospholipids into, out of, within or between cells by means of some external agent such as a transporter or pore. Phospholipids are any lipids containing phosphoric acid as a mono- or diester. Any process that is carried out at the cellular level, but not necessarily restricted to a single cell. For example, cell communication occurs among more than one cell, but occurs at the cellular level. The directed movement of lipids into, out of, within or between cells by means of some external agent such as a transporter or pore. Lipids are compounds soluble in an organic solvent but not, or sparingly, in an aqueous solvent. A process which results in the assembly, arrangement of constituent parts, or disassembly of a membrane. A membrane is a double layer of lipid molecules that encloses all cells, and, in eukaryotes, many organelles; may be a single or double lipid bilayer; also includes associated proteins.
