Descriptions Names[Advanced Search]

The synthesis of transfer RNA (tRNA) from a DNA template. The process by which a gene's sequence is converted into a mature gene product or products (proteins or RNA). This includes the production of an RNA transcript as well as any processing to produce a mature RNA product or an mRNA (for protein-coding genes) and the translation of that mRNA into protein. Some protein processing events may be included when they are required to form an active form of a product from an inactive precursor form. The synthesis of RNA from a DNA template by RNA polymerase II (Pol II), originating at a Pol II-specific promoter. Includes transcription of messenger RNA (mRNA) and certain small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs). The synthesis of small nuclear RNA (snRNA) from a DNA template. Any cellular metabolic process involving nucleic acids. The synthesis of antisense RNA, an RNA molecule complementary in sequence to another RNA or DNA molecule, which, by binding the latter, acts to inhibit its function and/or completion of synthesis, on a template of DNA. The synthesis of ribosomal RNA (rRNA), any RNA that forms part of the ribosomal structure, from a DNA template. The synthesis of small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA) from a DNA template. The synthesis of RNA from a DNA template by RNA polymerase I (Pol I), originating at a Pol I-specific promoter. The synthesis of RNA from a DNA template by RNA polymerase III (Pol III), originating at a Pol III-specific promoter. The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the formation of a macromolecule, any molecule of high relative molecular mass, the structure of which essentially comprises the multiple repetition of units derived, actually or conceptually, from molecules of low relative molecular mass, carried out by individual cells. The process by which transcription is completed; the formation of phosphodiester bonds ceases, the RNA-DNA hybrid dissociates, and RNA polymerase releases the DNA. Any process involved in the assembly of the RNA polymerase complex at the promoter region of a DNA template, resulting in the subsequent synthesis of RNA from that promoter. Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-dependent transcription. The extension of an RNA molecule after transcription initiation by the addition of ribonucleotides catalyzed by an RNA polymerase. The cellular chemical reactions and pathways involving RNA, ribonucleic acid, one of the two main type of nucleic acid, consisting of a long, unbranched macromolecule formed from ribonucleotides joined in 3',5'-phosphodiester linkage. The synthesis of RNA from a mitochondrial DNA template, usually by a specific mitochondrial RNA polymerase. The cellular synthesis of RNA on a template of DNA. The cellular synthesis of either RNA on a template of DNA or DNA on a template of RNA. The synthesis of RNA from a plastid DNA template, usually by a specific plastid RNA polymerase. The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the formation of RNA, ribonucleic acid, one of the two main type of nucleic acid, consisting of a long, unbranched macromolecule formed from ribonucleotides joined in 3',5'-phosphodiester linkage. Includes polymerization of ribonucleotide monomers. The cellular synthesis of messenger RNA (mRNA) from a DNA template. Any process that activates or increases the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-dependent transcription. The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the formation of substances, carried out by individual cells. Any process that stops, prevents or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-dependent transcription.
