Cell migration that is accomplished by extension and retraction of a fibroblast pseudopodium. A fibroblast is a connective tissue cell which secretes an extracellular matrix rich in collagen and other macromolecules. The specification and formation of anisotropic intracellular organization that contributes to the self-propelled directed movement of an ameboid cell. The migration of individual cells within the blastocyst to help establish the multi-layered body plan of the organism (gastrulation). For example, the migration of cells from the surface to the interior of the embryo (ingression). The binding of a cell to the extracellular matrix that contributes to the directed movement of an ameboid cell. The orderly movement of a cell from one site to another, often during the development of a multicellular organism or multicellular structure. Any process involved in the controlled self-propelled movement of a cell that results in translocation of the cell from one place to another. Cell migration that is accomplished by extension and retraction of a pseudopodium. The translocation of the cell body forward during cell migration, mediated by tractional force on its substrate and tension in the cortical cytoskeleton. Adhesions transmit propulsive forces and serve as traction points over which the cell moves. Formation of a lamellipodium, a thin sheetlike extension of the surface of a migrating cell that contributes to the directed self propelled movement of a cell. The characteristic movement of cells from the dorsal ridge of the neural tube to a variety of locations in a vertebrate embryo. The orderly movement of epithelial cells from one site to another, often during the development of a multicellular organism. The initial stages of cell motility involved in the glial-mediated movement of cells in the developing cerebral cortex.
