Descriptions Names[Advanced Search]

Assembly or disassembly of actin filaments by the addition or removal of actin monomers from a filament. The severing of actin filaments into numerous short fragments, usually mediated by actin severing proteins. Disassembly of actin filaments by the removal of actin monomers from a filament. The process by which protein polymers, compounds composed of a large number of component monomers, are broken down. Depolymerization occurs by the successive removal of monomers from an existing poly- or oligomeric protein.
