A symbiosome containing any of various structurally modified bacteria, such as those occurring on the root nodules of leguminous plants. The region between the inner and outer lipid bilayers that surround an organellar chromatophore. Any constituent part of the cytoplasm, all of the contents of a cell excluding the plasma membrane and nucleus, but including other subcellular structures. The chromatophore functions as a photosynthetic organelle, and has been found and characterized in the amoeba Paulinella chromatophora.
