The process by which a precursor cell type acquires characteristics of a more mature T-cell. A T cell is a type of lymphocyte whose definin characteristic is the expression of a T cell receptor complex. Any process that activates or increases the frequency, rate or extent of natural killer T cell differentiation. The process whereby a precursor cell type acquires the specialized features of an alpha-beta T cell. The change in morphology and behavior of an alpha-beta T cell resulting from exposure to a mitogen, cytokine, chemokine, cellular ligand, or an antigen for which it is specific. Any process that stops, prevents or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of natural killer T cell differentiation. Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of natural killer T cell differentiation. The process whereby a precursor cell type acquires the specialized features of a NK T cell. The process by which a pro-T cell becomes committed to becoming an NK T cell.
