Catalysis of the hydrolysis of a pyrophosphate bond between two phosphate groups, leaving one phosphate on each of the two fragments. Catalysis of the reaction: H2O + a nucleoside triphosphate = pyrophosphate + a nucleotide. Catalysis of the reaction: 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanosine triphosphate (8-Oxo-GTP) = 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanosine phosphate (8-Oxo-GMP) + diphosphate. 8-Oxo-GTP is the oxidised form of the free guanine nucleotide and can act as a potent mutagenic substrate for transcription.
