The process by which a cell in a multicellular organism interprets its surroundings. The process by which a neuronal cell in a multicellular organism interprets its surroundings. The collection of axons into a bundle of rods, known as a fascicle. The process by which the structures of a neuron are generated and organized. This process occurs while the initially relatively unspecialized cell is acquiring the specialized features of a neuron. The process whose specific outcome is the progression of a neuron over time, from initial commitment of the cell to a specific fate, to the fully functional differentiated cell. The process by which the anatomical structures of a neuron projection are generated and organized. Morphogenesis pertains to the creation of form. A neuron projection is any process extending from a neural cell, such as axons or dendrites. Generation of a long process of a neuron, that carries efferent (outgoing) action potentials from the cell body towards target cells.
