The process of physically separating progeny cells during cytokinesis; this may involve enzymatic digestion of septum or cell wall components. A cellular process resulting in the division of the cytoplasm of a cell and its separation into two daughter cells. Cytokinesis usually occurs after growth, replication, and segregation of cellular components. Any process that is carried out at the cellular level, but not necessarily restricted to a single cell. For example, cell communication occurs among more than one cell, but occurs at the cellular level. A cellular process that is involved in the division of the cytoplasm of a cell and its separation into two daughter cells. The process of finishing cell separation, which results in two physically separated cells.
